Demand for MBAs in Russian
The world's third most-spoken first language and, more importantly, its most popular second language, English is often, somewhat ironically, labeled the lingua franca of the business world.
But not all Russia's businesspeople are English speakers, and learning a language to study for a master of business administration degree can be time-consuming. "When I was looking at studying, I had a choice: either study language or an Executive MBA," said Vladimir Verbitsky, first deputy director of the Russian Institute of Directors.
As a result Verbitsky, an independent director at several Russian firms, opted to look for a Russian-language program. Having originally decided on a course at a Russian institution, he changed his decision on finding a Western business school offering EMBA courses in Russian.

WHO ARE THE JUDGES? Gennady Belyakov
Choice of an educational institution is a difficult matter. Along with this, the "price of a mistake" is much higher in business schools because of costs of education. We advise those who wish to get high-quality education to look at the lecturers better.
"Human resources determine everything" — many people agree with this brilliant statement of a very ambiguous historic figure. It is applicable to education too. How is it possible to disagree with it when even in remote educational programs, where personal contact with the lecturer is often excluded, educational programs are prepared by people anyway. Definitely, it depends primarily on them how much knowledge and skills a student will master, as well as what the student will tell his acquaintances when they ask him about the place of education.

Demand to business schools is formulated in the following way now: teach people not to solve the instantaneous problems but to disengage themselves from current tasks, to understand trends, to change the system and to respond to challenges.
In countries with developed economies crisis is a pretext to invest in your education. The fist noticeable surge of interest in business education was registered during the period of recession of the 1930s and between 2008 and 2009 the history repeated itself. Russian practice demonstrated a reverse regularity. Anton Ryaguzov, leading expert for work with business school of Begin group, says, "On average, it is possible to evaluate decrease in demand at 30-40%."

A Turn in the Head, Vladimir Volkov
Competitiveness of a country is determined not only by condition of its market institutions or infrastructure but also by quality of its managers and hence the level of business education. Dean of Stockholm School of Economics Russia Dr. Anders Liljenberg has explained in his interview to BB why Russia lags behind the leading countries according to all these parameters yet, what are the psychological peculiarities of Russian managers and for what it is necessary to get ready.
In the latest rating of global competitiveness of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Russia was put on the 63rd place. Do you agree that not only the low quality of infrastructure and market institutions but also weak management of Russian companies is to blame for such modest result?
